HOW TO TICK PEOPLE OFF

Leave the copy machine set to reduce 200%, extra dark, 17 inch paper, 99 copies.
In the memo field of all your checks, write "for sexual favors."
Specify that your drive-through order is "TO-GO."
If you have a glass eye, tap on it occasionally with your pen while talking to others.
Stomp on little plastic ketchup packets.
Insist on keeping your car windshield wipers running in all weather conditions "to keep them tuned up."
Reply to everything someone says with "that's what you think."
Practice making fax and modem noises.
Highlight irrelevant information in scientific papers and "cc" them to your boss.

Above is a new card I did using the inlaid technique. I glued the snowflakes onto silver cardstock and then ran through the big shot using the lattice embossing folder. I then put a scrunched up real red ribbon on the bottom. I did not want to put any saying on the front. I also put rhinestones on the snowflakes.

Get Thee Well

I got the idea of the nurse from Kay Sha. I made her into a Candy Striper. She has some really cool owl creations. Otherwise, the rest of the card was my creation.

Sometimes Waiting Is Worthwhile

I just love the idea of the Caterpillars that turn into beautiful butterflies. Now that is so worth the wait. Notice that their antenna are the same through the conversion.

Clowns Make Thee Laugh

Some people think clowns are scary but they are supposed to be funny and make you laugh. Mostly used the bird punch on this one.

Time Gone By

This card needs little explanation. I used the distressing kit on this one.

Dream To Be A Stampin' Up Demo

Need I say more? This is a technique I learned at regionals where your put the finished card in the embossing folder. Gives it a whole new look. Go in the directions of your dreams and become a SU Demo.

Big Birthday Cup Cake with a Cherry on Top

I took the stamp and colored it in with markers so I would not ink the inside of the stamp. I cut it apart and crimped the bottom (paper part) of the cupcake. I watercolored the top and added crystals where the tiny circles were and glittered the cherry. A big cupcake should make you wish big.

Blog Candy and how to make the wreath

First of all, the blog candy I am giving away for the month of October will be: 1) Wood unmounted "Happy Grad" and Wood unmounted "Christmas Greetings". I will choose a name from the comment (by random generator on Nov. 1st. Remember that to be eligible for the candy, you must leave a comment and your email for the month the candy is offered.
Also I am offering Blog Candy for the month of November and the Royal Blog Tour. The blog candy for the month must be comments not made for the Royal Blog Tour. Only comments made under the Royal Blog Tour will be eligible for that candy. Many people asked how to make the wreath from my make and take. You need to cut out a circle from chip board. I used the sizzix circle Big XL and then cut a smaller circle for the inside. You will have to attach the cut off part of the circle together to form the wreath form. Then, put our paper in the folder, Put the chip board circle on top and run through the Big Shot. I then used a sponge dauber with artichoke to color the wreath and then real red to dot the berries.

Here is a very similar card I used for my swaps. Instead of the lighter green, I used Artichoke and I used gold glass glitter instead of silver and I used dazzling diamonds around the merry christmas in read instead of color. As soon as I can, I will post the cards I received from the swaps.

Baltimore Regional and my Weekend

I am still recovering from a very busy week and weekend. My DH and I left Thursday night for Baltimore and being from a town that has no fast food stores and only one stop light, my DH was ready to have a nervous breakdown by the time we found our hotel. It was poring down rain and dark by the time we had traveled our 3 hours. I had to be at the Convention Center by 7:30 to meet Carrie so she could get our tables ready for our WOW demonstrations and get tips from the camera man. It was kinda nice not having to wait in line. The demo went fine and since I was the second person who presented a WOW demo. I demonstrated how to do Paper Beads using our DSP paper and had three examples.

A lot of people who knew of me but didn't know what I looked like, came up and introduced themselves. It was really nice to put a face to a name. As always, the boards were full of great cards.

After the seminar, my DH and I met up with Ilina Crouse.

It was great to meet her and she was doing a WOW on Saturday.

Then DH and I went to dinner to wait for the traffic to die down before the trek home. We got home around 10 pm and I had to do a few things to get ready for the craft fair I was doing the next day. We had to set up around 7:30 am. I had a pretty successful day (not as much as last year though) and then had to take everything down at 4 pm and then we had to get ready to go out. We traveled again about an hour and half to Richmond to see Hal Holbrook doing Mark Twain. He was incredible and more incredible, is the fact that he has been doing this for 30 years and he is now 85. Today, Sunday was my day of rest. I am getting ready to go to bed and begin a new week.

Now I begin to make my projects for the Royal Blog Tour. Busy, Busy, Busy...... But love it!

Sorry I haven't been posting any cards and things, but I have been extremely busy. I have been working (substituting) so this takes most of my days of playing (doing SU stuff). But besides that, I am getting ready to go to the Baltimore Regional and I am not only a SUDSOL Swap Hostess, I am going to do a Workshop Wow demo for Stampin' Up. So I am making swaps and getting ready for my 5 min. presentation. Then the day after the Regional, I am doing a craft fair that is in my small town called Fall Festival but that is where I sell a lot of my handmade cards and 3-d items and I still have things to make for that. And then on top of that, I will be doing the Royal Blog Tour and I have to come up with cards for that. I will be extremely busy and probably not able to post much if anything at all. But after that, I will have lots to post.

Homemade El Giza Herbal Healing Salve

This is a salve I started making many years ago but stopped when I got married. I am now making it again after many requests from people who had bought it from me before.
A time saving topical application packed in a pocket size container; this can go with you everywhere. Apply it liberally to the skin, and allow it to work their magic. As you know, some of you have been asking for tutorials for some of the cards and stuff I have done lately. Well I got a phone call today from Stampin' UP and I am going to be one of the demonstrators for the Workshop Wow for the Friday Baltimore Regionals. I am so excited but it is a little scary. You have five minutes to present your WOW. I can't say what it is right now so you will have to wait for what I did and instructions on my cards and stuff. Am I making any sense? I am so excited.

Nascar and Stampin' Up

I have a few friends that are Stampin' UP demos and are also Nascar fans. Well, yesterday I was at the Nationwide race in Richmond, VA and we get pit passes for that race because you can see both Nationwide and cup car drivers all in the same day and if you are lucky, you can get their autograph. I have gotten a lot throughout the years but I never really aimed for Nationwide drivers but I took a liking to a driver Justin Allgaier.

I had made up a Top Note pad of sorts to get autographs on and when I held it out for him to sign, he looked up and asked are you a stamper? And I said yes and he said Stampin' Up! and I said yes and I asked him how in the world would a Nascar driver at the age of 24 know about Stampin' UP. He told me he recognized the top note die and that his wife does Stampin Up. I asked if she was here and he pointed her out to me and I went and talked to her. She says she gets him to help her all the time when she has lots of items to do. Here name is Ashley Allgaier. She was so nice. So all you women out there, tell them this story. I mean, Nascar drivers are one of the busiest people I know. So now I have another reason to like Justin as a driver because he also helps his wife with Stampin' Up. That could be a big story for Stampin' UP. It would reach a whole set of new people. It also shows that by using SU products, you never know who you will meet.

Craft Room

My craft room is almost finished. All I have to do is empty out the remaining boxes and put them away. I am very excited to finally have everything at my fingertips. You have seen my scrapbox when it is open and how much it holds, plus it also has a desk. The other storage cubes come from oriental Trading. The CD Stamp holders come from Ikea.

I remade my door card. It now looks like my front door from the inside. One of the cards you may notice very old (from at least two years ago) DSP paper. I am using this up to make cards to sell at the craft fair. But notice the paper beads I made from the DSP paper. Aren't they cute? You will see more of them on current stuff. The last card is the Christmas Collage. I may use them for a swap I am in but haven't decided yet.

TISSUE BOX COVER DIRECTIONS

Many people have asked how I did the tissue box. Mine is based on Scottie Tissues. It may fit Kleenex or Puffs or any other kind also, but I haven't tried them. If they are different, just adjust the measurements.
Whatever your base color is: cut (2) 9-1/2" x 5-1/2" pieces of cardstock. Cut (1) 5-1/2" square. On the two larger pieces, score at 4-1/2" and again at 9". Fold on the score lines. On the square piece, score 1/2" on all sides. Cut on one side up to the score line at the end where the score lines meet for form a square. Do the same to the opposite side. Put sticky tape on all four sides of the square. Put sticky tape on the other pieces that are 1/2" scored. You can either put the top on as you assemble the box or assemble the box then put the top on. It doesn't really matter. Oh I forgot, before you assemble the square piece, cut a large oval in the center of the square. You can do this by hand or use the big shot. Once assembled, you can decorate as you wish. Mine was winter themed, but I am going to do a butterfly one to match my butterfly bathroom. I might also do a halloween one after that. They are put together quickly. It is the decorating that can take some time. You could decorate it also before it is assembled, your choice. I hope this helps.

I was looking for a tissue box cover and found only one but it wasn't exactly what I wanted, so I ended up making my own. I love these because they can be changed out for the different holidays or seasons. The card I made is a combination of two cards I saw, one with a wreath and one with a door. I realize now that the wreath should have been smaller and the door thinner but I will make that change next card I make. That card was all punch art.

Lynn Pratt made some wonderful cards that you can buy the tutorial for. They are a school bus, police car and fire engine. She also had a modification for the school bus to make a jeep. I have not made the police car yet but I did make the others. Our fire department is voluntary and I thought it would be a good card to send to them thanking them for their dedication. The school bus would be good for a child to give the school bus driver on the first day of school and the jeep was just a good masculine card.

It's my 60th birthday today and it is hard to believe that I have a 20 year old in her junior year of college. I don't get to see her because she started band camp today. Vintage Christmas

I took two of the Christmas DSP from the mini that match the fabrics and weaved them with 1/2" lengths. I cut them to the size I wanted, embossed it with the Lattice embossing folder and glued them to my card. I added another piece of DSP like ribbon and on top of that added one of my flowers I made from the fabric. I embossed in silver (to match the vintage brad) the Merry Christmas and offset it with versamark. I really like the look of this. It has a very vintage look to it. Hope you all like it.

New Christmas Card

I had to make another Christmas card from the new stuff from the mini.

I took the DSP from the mini and cut it into 1/2 strips then glued them in a row. I then cut what width I wanted. I made a flower from strips of material that I tore. I used one of the glitter brads in the middle of the flower. Hope you enjoy it.

I had a sample of all the DSP we sold last year. I didn't know what to do with it since they were about 3 1/2 x 3 /12 with a hole in one corner. Well, this is one of the ideas I came up with. I punched squares out of it and attached them to cardstock then took my Big Shot and cut out shapes to use. I will show you in upcoming cards the other things I did.

Ribbon Flowers

Some people have been asking how I do my ribbon flowers. Well, I take a roll of ribbon (do not cut a length just yet) and start making a running stitch at the top of one of the edges. Leave about a foot of string on the end. Just keep doing this and occasionally pull the strings together so see how the flower is looking. If it is full enough for you, then stop, cut the ribbon and thread and pull the thread tight and tie it. Then just move it around till you get what you like. Add a button, brad or whatever you want to middle and you have your ribbon. I hope this helps.

A New Card from the Mini.....

I just got my major shipment in for the mini catty. I LOVE the new fabric, even though I do not sew. I attached the fabric to the Big Shot adhesive sheets and then cut them out. I found that keeping them on the sheets and then attaching them to the card, the fabric kept its shape better. I made the ribbon flower using the binding tape. The other card was using the Simply Sent Sweet Hello and added a sentiment. Hope you like them. You will be able to order from the mini on September 1st.

I have always wanted to make a ribbon flower and I had some organza that wasn't SU so I thought I try my hand in it. I just made it up. I took thread and did a running stitch at the top of the ribbon. I then pulled the two ends together and tied the thread. I then took a large scallop punch, cut between each scallop. I poked a hole in the middle. I attached an antique brand and then wetted the paper and stuck it in a tea candle holder to fold up the scallop edges. I used gold spritz spray and some gold pearls I had.

I wanted to make some kids cards and I love the faces I have seen of the Sesame Street Gang but I wanted more than faces. This is my attempt to make Big Bird full size. I am not sure I like it. I will look at it for a while or if any of you have any suggestions, I would love to hear them. I used Daffodil Delight, Tangerine Tango and printed out the Big Bird quote in Word using RGB to make it Tangerine Tango and printed it out on Daffodil Delight and then punched it out. I used Pale Plum for the legs because none of our new colors would match.

Most of you know I was looking for the singing reindeer. Thanks to all your help, I found it. Here is my version of it. I made the songbook with MDS. The brown is Early Espresso, The red is Cherry Cobbler and the blue is Baja breeze. The whire was accented with moonlight smooch. I used a non SU embossing folder but when my snowflake embossing folder from the winter catty comes in, I will use that. Too bad the music one isn't stampin' up because it is actually perfect for this card.

Here are two card I made recently. One was based on my OCW (fall) and I had an extra leaf I did using the floating butterfly technique and I used the crimper on the DSP paper. It has been awhile since I have used a crimper. Sometimes you forget all the goodies you have to play with. The next card I got the idea from seeing one somewhere (I think at my uplines house). I thought it was cute and is easy to make. I love the cog eyelashes.

Here are two MDS cards that I did, printed and added some accessories. For those of you wanting the stamp from Convention, well this is the one you can download. I outlined it in Daffodil Delight and colored the heart red and the wings Tangerine Tango and then used the smooch to outline the birds and the share. The always card is accented with pearls and gray brads.
